Railroad Bridge – Beaumont, Texas

On-track crane installation with no welding required keeps downtime to a minimum.

Crews install a bridge in a remote area near Beaumont, TX by utilizing an on-track crane. Little or no access is available to use a crane stationed on the ground next to the bridge. The on-track crane can retrieve the girders from a storage area near the bridge or from a railcar delivered to the site. As the crew installs the girders the crane ‘walks’ across the bridge on girders previously set literally creating its own passage. Notice the rail has not been removed, therefore no welding is necessary after the bridge is set. Downtime was held to a minimum
